About Groningen

Groningen is the city to be in the north of the Netherlands! The 200.000 inhabitants of this cosy
city represent a wide variety of nationalities and socio-economic classes. The old town of Groningen
lays within the canal-structure of the inner city and still represents the heart of the city. The University
of Groningen, next year 406 years old, forms an important part of this lively heart. But more
importantly: the Groningen Institute of Archaeology will exist a 100 years in 2020! There could not
have been a better moment to celebrate the tradition of Aegean Prehistory than by organizing
Scapecon 2020 in Groningen!
